~~~ Sarah Carlile ~~~ Based in Richmond VA
Sarah Carlile a University of North Texas Art Education & Ceramics Alumni, based in the Dallas Texas area. Sarah has experience with a wide variety of mediums including installation, printmaking, and painting.
Her preferred medium within her own work is ceramics. Her current body of work is a series of functional ware pieces dealing with surface treatment. Many of her pieces include additive or reductive work, underglaze painting, screen-printed underglaze, and small sculptural additions. Much of Sarah's work, including her current series, has a monochromatic color palettes to accentuate her use of texture and pattern.
In 2018 the artist had her sculpture "In Full Bloom" (right) on exhibit at the UNT Union Gallery as well as the Cora Stafford Gallery. She attended a week-long workshop with artist Wayne White and had her sculpture from that displayed at the UNT on the Square Gallery. In 2017 she was awarded the Stephen Kramer Memorial Scholarship for her design work. In 2019 she attended the NCECA conference in Minneapolis Minnesota, and in 2018 she attended the TAEA conference in McAllen Texas.
My work has been exhibited several times including at the UNT on the Square Gallery, the Cora Stafford Gallery, and Commonwheel Artists Co-op Gallery.
